Paddle board
Paddleboarding, which has taken the world by storm, is more than just a sport; it's a hobby and lifestyle that allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Enjoy nature and the water without being a professional water sports or boating enthusiast. On this page, you can find paddle boards for both kids and adults.
What is a paddle board?
A paddle board is a flat, floating board similar to a surfboard. You may have also heard the term SUB-board, but it's exactly the same as a paddle board. A paddle board is significantly longer, wider, and thicker than a surfboard, as its purpose is to keep you stable while standing or sitting without tipping. Depending on how experienced and comfortable you are, you can stand up or sit down on your paddle board, and you can also use your paddle to propel yourself forward. A paddle board can be used at sea, in lakes and rivers.
Advantages of an inflatable paddle board
Many paddle boards are designed with an inflatable feature, which has many advantages over a fixed board.
First and foremost, an inflatable SUP board offers unrivalled flexibility and convenience. They are lightweight and easy to transport, and once deflated, they can be easily packed into a backpack or car bag. This makes them ideal for taking on weekend trips, travelling and adventures. And you can easily bring more than one if you're a family.
Despite their lightweight design, inflatable paddle boards are robust and durable thanks to advanced material technology.
These boards are also gentler for the learner. With an inflatable paddle board, you protect your knees when you sit, and you don't have to worry about injuries from the board when you fall. An inflatable paddle board is also much more comfortable for your child to sit on when you're on a family trip.
The volume of your paddle board
When choosing the right paddle board, it's important to look at both length and volume. Volume, expressed in litres, is an indicator of the paddle board's floatability. The volume you need depends on what you weigh, among other things. A board with a higher volume can carry more weight. The most common boards typically have a volume between 185-298 litres. High volume also ensures better stability and floatability, which is good for beginners.
A good rule of thumb is that you can double your weight in kilos to find the ideal volume. So, for example, if you weigh 70 kilos, you should go for a paddle board with a volume of at least 140 litres. As a beginner, whether you weigh 70 or 100 kilos, you can go for a volume of 298 litres.
Length of your paddle board
The length of your paddle board should also be considered. The length of your board will largely depend on your purpose for paddleboarding. Are you racing, touring, or using all-around?
A shorter board of under 244 centimetres provides better manoeuvrability and is suitable for surfing and kids. A longer paddle board between 304-427 centimetres offers greater speed and stability, making it a popular choice for many. Consider a medium/long model of 320 centimetres if you're a beginner or intermediate paddleboarder.

Tips for good maintenance and storage
Maintaining your paddle board is extremely important if you want it to last a long time. After use, your board is filled with salt water and possibly sand and dirt. Always wash your board clean of these elements so they don't damage the material. Use a sponge and mild soap and rinse off all the soap afterwards. Remember that maintenance is also about how you store your board when not in use.
If you use your paddle board often, it may remain inflated, but consider letting out some air to prevent damage from air expansion in hot weather and direct sunlight. After use, wipe your board thoroughly dry of water to avoid moisture damage. Then deflate the board by opening the valve and carefully fold/roll it up for storage in the included bag or a dry place indoors. Be careful not to fold or roll too tightly.
If you plan to use your board again soon, you can leave some air in but still remember to store it in a dry place away from the sun. Make sure your paddle board is in the sun for a maximum of one hour.
