Therefore, you must use safety shoes
Safety shoes are used so that you do not get injuries, mainly to your feet, when performing various types of work. This could be, for example, that you work in extreme cold or heat, or remodel at home. Then there may be a risk of you dropping a heavy object on your feet. The shoes also protect if you step on sharp objects such as nails and corrosive substances.
Choose the right safety shoes for your needs
A safety shoe can be a low shoe such as a sandal, sneaker or boot. The most important thing is which category they belong to depending on which protective properties they have. It is the marking on the shoes that speaks of this. It tells how well they meet the requirements for, among other things, design, materials and slip and toe protection. If a shoe model has a designation ending in "SRC", it means that it is slip tested.
Which work shoes you need depends on the type of work you intend to do. For example, are you going to use a chainsaw? Then you should have safety shoes that meet certain requirements. And if there is a risk of an electrostatic charge, you should use antistatic shoes.
With us at Biltema, you will find safety shoes in several different protection classes to suit your needs. You will find, for example, work shoes with a steel cap and shoes for both women and men.
FAQs
How long will a pair of safety shoes last?
The durability of protective shoes depends on how often you wear them and what they are subjected to. However, safety shoes can withstand more than ordinary shoes, such as knocks, pinching, heat, and pressure. The service life of your work shoes also depends on your body weight and the way you walk. Safety shoes with S1P safety rating are water-repellent, non-slip, and anti-penetration shoes.
Who pays for my safety shoes?
Your employer pays for the purchase and maintenance of your work shoes. However, the employer does not have to pay for any brand the employee chooses. An agreement can sometimes be made with the employer to share the cost if the employee wants safety shoes from a brand in the upper price segment. It is also the employer’s responsibility to keep your shoes clean.
Where are the requirements for the use of safety shoes?
The regulations state that safety shoes are mandatory at worksites where it is not safe to wear ordinary shoes. For example, worksites with very wet and slippery floors, worksites where there are many heavy and sharp objects, or on construction sites. The safety shoes must also be CE marked, which is the case for all safety shoes from Biltema. It is not possible to make exceptions to not use safety shoes at worksites where they are mandatory.
