If you renovate your home, do it yourself!
A renovation doesn't have to cost your shirt, nor does it have to be an overpowering project. With fairly simple means, you can transform an entire room, and you can do it yourself, without the help of the professionals. Renovating yourself is usually cheaper and the result is entirely in your hands. However, if you are going to do a renovation that includes water or electricity, we recommend that you get help from a professional.
Some electrical work you can perform yourself
Renovate the bathroom
The bathroom is a popular room to renovate and can be easily transformed into a brand new room.
If you do a major renovation and choose to add new tiles and tiles in the bathroom, it is important that you do it professionally. You must follow an approved waterproofing system, with detailed instructions and selected products. Don't you want to relay tiling? Then you can choose to either paint the tiles and flagstones, or put trendy microcement over existing tiles and stones.
Renovation guide
Renovate your kitchen
The heart of the home is the kitchen – that's where we meet to have dinner, hang out and talk about how the day has been. Since we spend so much time in the kitchen, it is also important that we enjoy it there.
For example, a little new colour can transform an entire room. By repainting walls, tiles or kitchen cabinets, you create a whole new feeling in the kitchen. Which doesn't have to cost your shirt or become too time-consuming a project.
Paint the kitchen cabinets
Sometimes you can update instead of buying new, for example by repainting. Changing the colour of the kitchen cabinets can create the feeling of a brand new kitchen. Depending on the style you are looking for and what structure you have on the gaps, you can use brush, rollers or paint sprayer for your work. Also take the opportunity to assemble new fittings, it gives the cupboard doors and drawers a proper make over.
Good to keep in mind before painting:
- A thorough preparatory work is A and O. Unscrew the old fittings, grind off old paint ifor wash off the gaps with paint wash.
- If you are going to change fittings, you may not be using the same brackets as before. Then be sure to seal the old holes and grind them before repainting the gaps.
- It is easiest if you remove the doors from the kitchen frame. Then you can more easily paint them on a painting table, covered floor or the like.
- Small kitchens can be perceived as larger and airier with bright colours.
- If you are looking for harmony in the kitchen, try to match the colour of the kitchen cabinets with the wall colour.
Create new rooms with paint
Sometimes a little paint can be enough to change and refresh an entire room. Maybe you're tired of the wall paint you already have or feel like the current one needs to be freshened up a bit?
Choose the right paint
Colour codes and colours can feel like a jungle at first glance, but oh so important to sort out. When choosing the colour, it is good to take into account the design, windows and light inlet. Keep in mind that bright colours make the room feel larger, which is an advantage if it's a smaller room, with less light that you're going to paint. A large room, where the windows instead let in lots of light, is not as sensitive to darker colours. There you can paint using slightly darker hues, to create a cosy and looked-after feeling.
