Dress for hunting and fishing
Clothing for hunting
It is often a colder and wetter climate that meets the hunting season up here in the Nordic countries. And that of course makes greater demands on your hunting clothes.
As you know, hunting can sometimes take a while and the days outdoors can be long. Long days outdoors can mean unpredictable weather, with everything from sun that warms nicely to clouds and rain showers. Therefore, it is important that you are dressed for surprises. You do this best by dressing based on the layer-on-layer method. Between the layer and the outer layer, which should keep you dry and protect against water and wind, can be adapted based on the type of hunting you are going on. If you are going to be sitting still most of the day, you can wear a wool sweater and rainwear. If you want to move a lot, you need clothes that breathe so that you do not trap body heat and moisture, such as a fleece jacket and a wilderness jacket.

Hunting clothes - for a successful hunt
When you are out hunting, it is of course important that you use clothing that allows you to blend into the surroundings, so that your prey does not detect you. During stealth hunting, it is therefore a plus if you are wearing a camouflage outfit, which minimizes your visibility in the forest. You can also use a camouflage net to hide.
The material of your clothes can play a big role when you move during the hunt. You should have clothing made of materials that do not rustle, for example a hunting and leisure jacket in brushed tricot that is breathable and waterproof.
On sunny days, a hunting cap can help you protect your head and you do not have to face the sun when aiming at or looking for animals.

Clothes for fishing
Just like hunting, a fishing trip can also be long, sedentary and sometimes cold. While waiting for a bite, time can pass slowly, but to keep your mood and patience up, it is important that you are properly dressed in any case. You should never have to freeze, and it should be easy to remove if you get too hot.
Depending on how active your fishing is, you should choose clothes accordingly. If you’re actively fishing, where you move and risk sweating, it is important that you have clothes that breathe and transport moisture. Choose an undergarment in synthetics or wool, which keeps you warm and dry. On top of the base layer, you can wear a fleece sweater, which also transports moisture and keeps you warm. Then choose a wilderness jacket that is wind and waterproof and has ventilation.

Let the activity decide
If you’re about sedentary fishing, such as ice fishing, you should replace the fleece jacket with a wool sweater instead. The wool keeps you warm even if you do not generate as much excess heat. It is also not as important that your outer layer breathes as much as when active fishing, because you do not have to transport so much moisture away from the body.
A pair of waders that work all year round is also a good idea to wear on the fishing trip, so that you stay dry on your feet and legs. On hot days, a slouch floppy hat, cap and fishing goggles are good to take along, so that you protect yourself from the sun's strong rays. And what would fishing be without a fishing vest where you keep all the important things?
